What are Genital Warts? Causes, Symptoms and Treatment\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Genital warts or condylomas are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Condylomata accuminata <\/strong>are warts that appear on the external reproductive organs, while there are other types of genital warts as well that are responsible for precancerous injuries. Usually, they appear on the genitalia, but also on the hands, the sole of the foot, the mucous membranes of the airways and the large intestine. Of the 200 different described HPV types, about 40 of those are identified in the genital tract. Types 16 and 18 have higher risks and are more likely to lead to the development of cervical cancer. Types 6 and 11 are non-carcinogenic and responsible for about 90% of genital warts. Only 10% of them develop symptoms.<\/p>\n
