A healthy breakfast is the main energy source for the body and mind of children.<\/p>\n<p>Eating a nutritious breakfast that includes all food groups and of course lots of fruits and vegetables can significantly reduce the risk of obesity or other nutritional problems.<\/p>\n<h4>Why should children eat a good breakfast?<\/h4>\n<p>First and foremost, a child who eats properly, is not malnourished and does not skip breakfast is generally healthier. Specifically, we observe:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>better student performance<\/li>\n<li>improved memory<\/li>\n<li>ability to learn new information<\/li>\n<li>development of combinatorial thinking<\/li>\n<li>better concentration<\/li>\n<li>more energy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is true that a child who refuses or does not have enough time to eat breakfast, is more lazy and weak during the day as well as unwilling to attend school.<\/p>\n<p>The daily consumption of a healthy breakfast also helps children avoid unhealthy snacks between meals. This has many long-term positive effects on the health of the individual, since it reduces the risk of obesity, diabetes or heart problems in adults.<\/p>\n<h4>What is the best breakfast for children?<\/h4>\n<p>The ideal breakfast should include servings from three different food groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>carbohydrates<\/li>\n<li>proteins<\/li>\n<li>fat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is important to consider that the foods you choose should be light on the stomach so as not to affect the digestion.<\/p>\n<p>A good breakfast for children includes skimmed milk and cereals, honey, eggs or vegetable butter. Cereals, eggs and fruits such as bananas are rich in B vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Consequently, they help to improve memory and concentration.<\/p>\n<p>Generally, a full and healthy breakfast for children should include <strong>fruits<\/strong>, <strong>fiber<\/strong> (whole grain breads and cereals, fresh or dried fruit), <strong>dairy products<\/strong> (milk, yoghurt or low-fat cheese).<\/p>\n<p><em>Extra tip<\/em>: Remember that snacks between meals are equally important for children\u2019s health as they replenish the lost energy. Therefore, parents should prepare nutritious snacks for their children so they avoid buying unhealthy snacks at school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Should parents eat breakfast with their children?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is very important for children to see their parents following a healthy and balanced diet and eating a nutritious breakfast. If possible, try to have breakfast together and include all the aforementioned food groups.
